"There is no beauty in the finest cloth if it creates hunger and unhappiness."
Past
01
After the Industrial Revolution, the garment manufacturing process became much faster and people started buying more and more clothes as they were easily accessible and their cost was affordable. This led to overconsumption and premature disposal of fashion products; all this led to the growth of Fast Fashion.
Initially, Fast Fashion seemed very intriguing; it brought many problems at different levels along with it:
-
Child Labor
-
Improper Working Conditions
-
Malpractices
-
Pollution
-
Resource Exploitation
When these problems continued to grow, an anti-movement was formed-Ethical & Sustainable Fashion.
The first ethical brand was People Tree. It was founded in 1991 by Safia Minney, and it promoted transparency and fair practices at their workplaces.
