"Infinite growth of material consumption in a finite world is an impossibility."
Future
The growth of Sustainable and Ethical Fashion has led us to a point where avoiding Fast Fashion is not as difficult as earlier, due to increased availability of brands which work on the principles of sustainability and transparency of processes. In the upcoming years, ethical and sustainable clothes will no longer be available only for a select group of consumers, but instead for all the various segments of the society.
After the report by Global Commission of Economy and Climate, which stated that we have only 135 months till we reach a point of no return from global warming, a lot of eyes have opened and more and more people are being compelled to go green!
60-70% people under 35 in the USA said that their brand selection is now being affected by the brand's transparency index.
Brands like Reebok, Pantagonia and Adidas are now starting to use recycled material from their old shoes and plastics to make new shoes instead of manufacturing new raw materials. These brands scored 64% out of a total of 250 points and are ranked at the top in the Fashion Transparency Index 2019.
Furthermore, Vans has also started re-using old and donated shoes to make their newer shoes.
